OUTER SECTION
UNIVERSITY TESTED
The University of Melbourne Engineering Department tested a typical section of FITZROY track.
The track was subjected to 258 hours of non-stop opening and closing operation.
This means that the test door opened and closed fully 130,000 times, travelling approximately 160 kilometers.
PRECISION MEASUREMENT RESULTS WERE IMPRESSIVE.
Cage Wear - No evidence of wear on either surface
Ball Wear - Precision measuring found no evidence of ball wear.
Track Wear - 0.0005", So minute as to be regarded as negligible.
CONCLUSION
From these exhaustive tests, the wear rate calculated was so low it
was not possible to estimate the life of the track.
